EHS Manager at Extra Mile Materials

✔️ Lead daily EHS walkdowns on the Olen site, spotting hazards early, agreeing actions with operations/R&D, and following up to close them fast

✔️ Coordinate day-to-day risk assessments (TRA/JSA), permit-to-work, contractor safety, and safe start-up checks for lab and pilot/production activities

✔️ Monitor compliance tasks: chemical management (SDS, storage, labelling), waste streams, emissions/permits, and ensure site documentation is always audit-ready

✔️ Investigate incidents and near-misses, run root-cause analyses, and drive practical corrective/preventive actions with clear owners and deadlines

✔️ Deliver toolbox talks and trainings, coach leaders and teams on safe behaviors, and continuously improve EHS KPIs, inspections, and reporting

✔️ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Safety Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (additional HSE certifications are a strong plus)

✔️ 6–10 years of EHS experience in an industrial/manufacturing or chemical/process environment; experience in battery materials, R&D/pilot plants, or scale-up operations is a plus

✔️ Strong knowledge of EHS legislation and management systems (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001), risk assessments (HAZOP/JSA), incident investigation, and contractor safety management

✔️ Hands-on skills in building and driving EHS culture: training, influencing stakeholders, leading audits, and implementing practical improvement plans on the shopfloor and in labs

✔️ Confident communicator and coach with a proactive, structured mindset—able to collaborate cross-functionally, challenge respectfully, and work fluently in English (Dutch is a strong advantage)
